Over my years of tutoring English, I can't count the number of times a student has said, "I just don't have any ideas" or "I don't know how to write it." And I can empathise with that. Nothing is more effective at snuffing out all creativity than a high-stakes, time-limited exam question. The pressure on students is immense. Creative writing (for AQA) is worth 40 marks, which is 25% of the final GCSE grade. In June 2023, 40 marks made the difference between a Grade 5 and a Grade 9... I have created this course to target students who need extra support in creative writing but don't have access to private tuition. Each video is delivered by me, a tutor with over 3000 hours of experience working with students individually and a proven success rate. The videos have accompanying worksheets to help students keep track of their progress, and each day gives students the chance to work on the content covered independently. By the end of the course, students will have written a full creative writing response that uses structure for effect, a range of literary techniques, punctuation, and ambitious vocabulary. They will also have developed the skills to apply this response in the exam or, if they choose, to craft a new response using the skills acquired on the course.
